From Debt to First Class: Why I Started Grab Those Points

Several years ago, I fell for the "shiny object" syndrome. I saw an ad for a premium credit card promising the world: luxury lounge access, effortless upgrades, and "free" travel. Without doing my research, I hit apply.

The reality check hit hard. Once those bonus points landed, I realized the airline barely flew out of my home airport. Worse, I found myself overspending just to chase a signup bonus I didn't understand. Before I knew it, I was staring at a hard inquiry on my credit report and a balance I didn't want—all for points I couldn't even use. I felt trapped in the exact system the banks designed.

The Turning Point: Doing the Math

Over last seven years, that frustration turned into a mission. I realized credit card companies make billions off consumers by dangling "1% cash back" rewards.

I found the "glitch" in their system: The Math of the Signup Bonus.

If I spent $3,000 on my old card, I earned 3,000 points (worth $30). But if I put that same $3,000 of "natural spending" toward the right bonus, I could earn 60,000 to 100,000 points. That was the "aha!" moment. That same budget could either sit earning nothing or be turned into a $12,000 First Class suite to Dubai. I chose the suite.

Seeing the World on Their Dime

Today, I’ve traveled the globe because I learned how to use points. I’ve gone from rookie mistakes to booking stays and flights that would normally cost a fortune:

• The Maldives: Waking up in an overwater villa for $0.
• Dubai: Exploring the city of gold and enjoying First Class cabins.
• Ireland: Immersing myself in landscapes without touching my savings.
• 5-Star Getaways: Weekend escapes that were once "out of my league."

My Mission

I started Grab Those Points to help you avoid the pitfalls. You shouldn’t have to go into debt to see the world, and you shouldn't need a PhD to understand points.

Let’s stop settling for 1% "crumbs" and start grabbing the massive points you deserve.

There is zero chance I could have gone to ANY of these places without credit card points
